About Us

British Women Artists (BWA) was established in 2008 by Jowonder, with the technical expertise of Peter Blue, as a showcase for women artists of any nationality living and working in the UK.

We are here as a form of poetic resistance, using pictures to reassemble and challenge.

Our competition has had input from leading figures in the international world of fine-art: Sadie Hennessy, Aretha Campbel, Jan Woolf, Hermione Wiltshire, Ceri Hand, Mary Allen, Mila Askarova, Jane McAdam Freud, Edward Lucie Smith and Amanda Rigler, amongst others.
