Fishing before time
The picture was created to illustrate a book of poems about a fisherman. The poet decided not to publish and does not wish to be acknowledged.
A fisherman muses about the timelessness of the scenery around him. He stares at a limestone crag and sees 'the atoll heat', 'the turquoise flows' and 'tropics long extinct'. Here I have created a time memory a tropical ocean covers the familiar scenery of North Yorkshire and surrounds Rylestone Crag with it's recognisable stone cross. By contrasting the two disparate elements of today and prehistory I have illustrated the imaginings of the poet's 'wondrous timeless sea'.
