Alice in Mourningby
Dianne Bowell
Alice in Mourning, is created with oil paints and varnish washes on directly onto unprimed hardboard, the colour in the hair is the board being allowed to show through the varnish.
The piece, though not representative, becomes almost a self portrait, as many of my pieces do, examining the coercive control I was unwittingly subject to, a subject which has orbited my art but I have never felt strong enough to explore.
