Tracks and Branchesby
Elaine Newington Ward
The picture was created to illustrate a book of poems about a fisherman. The poet decided not to publish and does not wish to be acknowledged.
This poem is a reminiscence of fishing through the ages. My digital illustration brings to life the much earlier time evoked in verse one.
Tracks and Branches
We took a branch and sharpened it,
Then watched and waited by the pool.
Our feet were deep in mud and clay,
We felt the river fill our souls.
